Folk music duo Chloe and Ben Hurley perform traditional Irish songs and instrumental music on iconic Irish instruments including Celtic harp and Uilleann pipes. Chloe’s voice has been described by audiences as “a feast for the soul”. As life-long musicians with a shared Irish heritage Chloe and Ben discovered their passion for Irish music soon after they met. Recent performances include Kiama’s Folk by the Sea, the National Folk Festival, Yass Celtic and Irish Music Festival , Crookwell Potato Festival, Blacktown Medieval Fayre and annual performances at Winterfest in the Hawkesbury.
From ethereal soprano airs to toe tapping jigs and reels Chloe and Ben take you on a journey that evokes the wild beauty of Ireland which inspires this gorgeous music.
Chloe and Ben love celtic music and culture as they both have Irish heritage. Chloe loved the Irish music from a young age. She grew up listening to recordings of the Cheiftans played by her Irish father who emigrated to Australia from Belfast as a young child. Along with opera studies Chloe continued her love of the sweet pathos of Irish song and gained a renewed interest after seeing Riverdance. Ben loves learning new instruments and after learning many Irish tunes on a tin whistle, he chose to learn one of the most challenging Irish instruments - Uilleann pipes. Since then they have enjoyed playing this music together for many years.
Our influences include artists such as Tiarnan Ó Duinnchinn, Loaise Kelly, Grainne Hambly, Loreena McKennitt, Solas, Old Blind Dogs, and the Chieftains.
